Monday, September 13- Zoning Redesign Virtual Forum: Reimagining our Village Centers

September 13, 2021 @ 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

  • « Annual Meeting – Sunday, June 13th
  • Mayoral Candidate Forum: Virtual »

collage_vc

Beginning last spring, the City’s efforts at redesigning the Zoning Code shifted focus to our village centers. To help in that effort, the City is asking Newton community members to share their experiences of, and their future visions for, their village centers.  Input from community members will help the City of Newton identify areas of research for how to update the zoning for village centers.

Community groups in Newton, like LWVN, can contribute to the current Zoning Redesign engagement by facilitating their own discussions on how their members currently experience, and what they hope for, their village centers – using the City’s Vision Kit as a guide.

The League will be holding a Virtual Forum on Monday, September 13, 2021, from 7:00-8:00pm to hear from our members what they think about our Village Centers.  Don’t miss this great opportunity to have input into what our village centers will look like in the future.

REGISTER HERE.

Questions that will be raised include:

  • how do you define a village center (what are the boundaries of each village center)
  • what values do you see guiding development of our village centers
  • how do our village centers currently carry out those values
  • if money were no object, what would your ideal village center contain
  • where should housing/retail/commercial development occur
  • how can climate objectives be achieved
  • and more
