Questions and Answers
Question 1: What in your background prepares you to be effective in the political office you are seeking?
Effective leaders must be able to connect with and understand the diverse communities they represent to earn their trust. My life’s work - advocating for our most vulnerable residents, working with environmental non-profits, assisting disabled immigrants seeking citizenship, monitoring children held in detention camps, serving as an at-large City Councilor for 20 years, and now working as a consumer advocate with the Housing Team at the Attorney General’s office combined with the perspective I bring as the parent of three NPS graduates and as an Asian American woman, provides me with the qualifications, necessary to effectively lead.
Question 2: If you're elected, what will be your first priority? Why? How will you address your priority?
My first priority is to establish an inclusive, community-centered, consumer-friendly, and transparent administration that respectfully and effectively responds to residents in all of our villages. Many feel their voices have gone unheard and their concerns dismissed. Working with a staff that reflects the diversity of our community and includes diversity of thought, we will improve communication and proactive outreach, make information publicly and easily accessible, and ensure inclusion in planning and decision making on issues impacting our schools, housing, and economic development, investment in our infrastructure, and city finances.
