On June 11, 2026, members gathered at the Scandinavian Cultural Center for our Annual Meeting. We enjoyed some socializing time with members both old and new, as well as some non-members looking to learn more about our organization, followed by our business meeting.
Some highlights of what we accomplished during the business portion of the meeting include:
- Modifications to the city government section of our Local Positions to reflect our transparency goals were approved
- The 2026-2027 Program was approved
- A budget for the new Fiscal Year was approved (see pages 24 and 25 of the 2026 Annual Meeting Workbook)
- Julie Lindstrom was awarded this year’s Jane Leighton Award
- Amani Arunga from Newton North High School was awarded our High School Scholarship
- A new slate of officers and directors was approved. We welcomed the following new Board members: Lee Gelb, Runa Islam, Peter Klapes and Diana Singer
