On February 19, 2025, LWVN sent a letter to the City Council expressing its support for changes to Newton’s ADU ordinance to comply with the final regulations issued on January 31, 2025 by the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development for the implementation of updates to the Commonwealth’s Zoning Act (Ch. 40A) regulating ADUs. LWVN also expressed support for additional amendments to the ADU ordinance proposed by Councilor Susan Albright to (i) increase to 1200 square feet the by-right size of ADUs and (ii) increase the by-right size of ADUs in
historically significant accessory buildings.
