On June 10, 2024, members gathered at The Social for our Annual Meeting. We welcomed old and new members, as well as the students and families of our scholarship award winners. We honored our departing state representatives, Ruth Balser and Kay Khan, and recognized and honored Halina Brown for all her accomplishments and service to the city over many years.
Some highlights of what we accomplished during the business portion of the meeting include:
- Jane Harper was awarded this year’s Jane Leighton Award
- The 2024-2025 Program was approved
- Modifications to our Local Positions were approved, including adopting support for (i) efforts to improve the climate and tackle climate change, (ii) the Village Center Overly District for all village business districts, (iii) the MBTA Communities Act, and (iv) the effort to make Washington Street and certain adjoining streets a designated Cultural District by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- A budget for the new Fiscal Year was approved (see pages 26-27 of the 2024 Annual Meeting Workbook)
- We gave tribute to these members leaving the Board: Maddy Ranalli, Marcia Tabenken, and Cyrus Vaghar, and a special tribute to our departing past president Marcia Johnson
- A new slate of officers and directors was approved. We welcomed the following new Board members: Alicia Bowman, Barbara Howard, Julie Lindstrom, Tami Roberts and Kathy Shields.
