Send your questions for the candidates: Newton Municipal Election, Nov 2, 2021

September 19, 2021

Newton voters: send us your questions for the candidates!

This year, the League will once again create an online Voters Guide and host Candidate Forums for the municipal election for Mayor, City Councilors, and School Committee members on November 2, 2021.

The LWVN Voters Guide and Candidate Forums are neutral forums where we invite all candidates to provide answers to the public, as part of our mission to encourage informed and active participation in government. The League of Women Voters is nonpartisan: this means we neither support nor oppose candidates or political parties at any level of government. We do advocate for issues we have studied and taken positions on, but we do not support or oppose candidates.

Help us formulate questions to cover a wide variety of topics in our Voters Guide and to use in our Candidate Forums!  Please submit your question(s) for any of the groups of candidates — for Mayor, City Councilor, or School Committee. You may submit this form as many times as needed to ask multiple questions of different candidate groups.

The League of Women Voters of Newton invites all community members to join us on Sunday, December 3, 2023, from 1:30-3:30pm, at the Waban Library Center (1608 Beacon Street, Newton), for an intimate gathering and book group discussion of one of the most banned books of the last two years, Gender Queer: A Memoir by Maia Kobabe.Whether you’ve read the book or not, come engage in a lively discussion of the book (and other books on banned books list), why it has caused so many schools and libraries to remove it from the shelves, whether LWVN or any League should take a position on book banning, and more.Following the discussion, we invite all to celebrate with us the holiday season and join in some holiday cheer.RSVPs to info@lwvnewton.org are appreciated!See the LWVN website for additional information and resources on banned books! ...
