This fall and winter Newton City Councilors are working with staff to organize Ward-by-Ward meetings where members of the community will be invited to review the first draft of the Zoning Ordinance, Zoning Map, and provide comment.
From November 2018 – March 2019 we will hold one meeting in each of Newton’s eight wards. Each event will start with a short presentation about the framework of the first draft zoning ordinance and a brief history and purpose of the Zoning Redesign project. Attendees will be able to see the proposed zoning map for their ward up close and understand what the zoning could be for their property and other properties in the ward.
Finally, staff will meet with small groups to explain the proposed rules and building types for each zone, and answer questions about what these rules could mean for property owners and the neighborhoods themselves.
Everyone is invited and welcome to review the first draft Zoning Ordinance, first draft Map, and explanatory memo to City Council online ahead of their ward meeting.
