League of Women Voters of Wellesley Presents

Election Security: Threats and Solutions

Tuesday, October 16, 7 p.m. (light refreshments at 6:30 pm)

Wellesley Free Library, Wakelin Room, 530 Washington St., Wellesley

Barbara Bluestein Simons, a voting cyber security expert, will be the guest speaker at the League’s Opening Meeting that is free and open to the public. Dr. Simons co-authored the report that led to the cancellation of the Department of Defense’s Internet Voting project (SERVE), in 2004, because of security concerns.

Simons is Board Chair of Verified Voting, a non-partisan, non-profit organization that advocates for legislation and regulation that promotes accuracy, transparency and verifiability of elections, and co-authored the book Broken Ballots: Will Your Vote Count?.  She has a Ph.D in computer science from U.C. Berkeley.
