[From LWVMA] Although the Safe Communities Act wasn’t passed this session, we can still keep up the pressure for the legislature to act on four key protections for immigrants in the state before the session ends Tuesday, July 31. Thousands of us have marched, rallied, emailed and called to make our voices heard.
Please contact both your Representative and your Senator on Monday, July 30, a statewide call-in day for immigrants’ rights. Find them here: https://malegislature.gov and click on the Legislators tab.
The message: Immigrant families in Massachusetts are suffering. Hyper-aggressive enforcement is tearing families apart every day, and thousands more live in fear that a traffic stop or 911 call could destroy their world. This is a crisis. Please find a way to pass the four protections that the Senate had included in the budget. As your constituent, I expect you to fight for what’s right. Please urge leadership to bring these protections to a vote, one way or another, before July 31. Thank you!
