From LWV of Acton:  Role of the Press in Our Democracy – Speaker Series

Please join the Acton Area League of Women Voters for a Spring-time Speaker Series on the Role of the Press in Our Democracy. We have secured three experts with first-hand knowledgeable of the press, journalism, and information sources. The league’s goal is to inform the community about responsible journalism and responsible news consumption.

  • Wednesday, April 11 – Boston Globe Managing Editor Jennifer Peter, 7 p.m., Acton Villageworks – 252 Massachusetts Ave, Acton
  • Wednesday, May 2 – Librarian Dorothy Kramer, 7 p.m., Boxborough Library – 427 Massachusetts Ave, Boxborough
  • Tuesday, May 8 – Prof., WGBH Contributor Dan Kennedy, 7 p.m., Boxborough Library

 

Freedom of the Press, Fake vs. Real News, Bots and Trolls, Social Media’s influence, and governing via Twitter are just a few of the topics that will be covered. Night No. 1 is Wednesday, April 11 at Acton’s Villageworks with Boston Globe Managing Editor Jennifer Peter. Jennifer is a member of the Globe’s senior management team serving as Managing Editor of the entire paper. As a practicing journalist with 26 years experience, she is experiencing in real-time the changing landscape of news.
