Wendy R. Sherman is a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center and also serves as a Senior Counselor at Albright Stonebridge Group. As Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs at the U.S. Department of State form 1997-2001 and as a Special Adviser and Policy Coordinator on North Korea to President Clinton, she worked as a close adviser to then Secretary of State Madeleine Albright on every major foreign policy and national security issue. From 2011-2015, she was the fourth-ranking official in the State Department, during which period she led the team that negotiated with Iran and other partners to craft, on July 14, 2015, the “nuclear deal.”
