LWVN is proud to announce it is now a partner in the Women’s Suffrage Celebration Coalition of Massachusetts (WSCC). The WSCC is dedicated to commemorating and celebrating the upcoming 100th anniversary of the adoption of the 19th Amendment, guaranteeing women the right to vote. The 19th Amendment was ratified in 1920 when Tennessee became the 36th state to ratify the amendment, reaching the required three-fourths of the states. The previous year, on June 25, 1919, Massachusetts ratified the amendment, the eighth state to do so. The commemoration in Massachusetts will span 2019-2020; the WSCC is planning a variety of commemoration events and activities to take place in Massachusetts in 2019 and 2020.
If you would like to know more about WSCC, please click here or visit www.suffrage100ma.org. There are eight committees to implement the celebration, listed below and all would welcome volunteers.
