The event is co -sponsored by the Marblehead League of Women Voters with We the People MA/North Shore with Speaker Jeff Clements to discuss a proposed Constitutional Amendment to address the Citizens United Supreme Court decision.
Mr. Clements founded a nationwide group, American Promise to push for the Amendment. Jeff is a constitutional lawyer and author of “Corporations Are Not People: Reclaiming Democracy From Big Money & Global Corporations”. He is the co-founder of Free Speech For People, a national, non-partisan, not-for-profit campaign to strengthen American democracy.
Lee Mondale will represent the Marblehead League and talk briefly about the League’s position on pathways to change in our system of government through legislation, the judiciary, and the constitution amendment process. (The LWV is not supporting any specific amendment nor openly supporting the amendment process as a route to change, but has a “open” attitude toward discussion of possible amendments.)
