Charter Commission Meeting Notes November 23, 2015
Attending: Bryan Barash, Jane Frantz, Howard Haywood, Rhanna Kidwell, Josh Krintzman, Anne Larner, Brooke Lipsitt, Karen Manning, Chris Steele
Staff: David Olson, Ouida Young
Challenges: how will the Charter Commission function administratively, since there are no city staff people picking up any responsibilities for the charter commission? Can hire someone, but might need to request additional funds. Taking of minutes: requires someone not involved in conversation. Statute requires clerk position, so have a CC member step forward?
Need to figure out the finances—how the process works and if it will be possible to get more money. Need to hire a clerk to help free up CC members to do other things. Ouida Young will have a discussion with HR—a part-time person or an agency to avoid requirements for health coverage, etc?
Election of Officers:
- Josh Krintzman was voted in as Chair.
- Rhanna Kidwell was voted in as Vice Chair.
- Karen Manning and Jane Frantz are Co-Clerks
Future Meetings:
Regular meetings schedule: second and fourth Wednesday after the first Monday—Room 222 available (now called Room 211), 7 p.m., starting December 16, 2015.
First Public Hearing: Thursday, December 17th in the Aldermanic Chamber, 7 p.m. Agenda TBD.
Pre-Public Hearing Planning Meeting: December 9th, 7:45 p.m. in the City Hall Cafeteria to talk about public hearing and determine agenda.
Meeting adjourned so that the CC members can move to training.
