From LWVN: Contact Newton’s Board of Aldermen to support the proposed Austin Street project. Click here to read more about how to help: LWVN and Austin Street.
From LWVMA: On Tuesday, June 30, LWVMA is teaming up with 32 other organizations, Attorney General Maura Healey, and sexual health advocates from across the state for the first-ever Sexual Health Lobby Day in Massachusetts. Join with others and raise your voices to advocate for what we believe in. We can make a huge difference in the health and well-being of women, men, and young people across Massachusetts.
If you cannot attend this lobby day, please contact your Senator and Representative and urge them to support H.448/S.265 An Act Relative to Healthy Youth to provide accurate and age-appropriate information on sexual health care for our children. Also from LWVMA: Please contact the Governor’s office and ask him (1) to remove the requirement in Executive Order 562 that state regulations not exceed federal regulations and (2) to insure that changes to or elimination of regulations include an opportunity for public hearings and comment.
LWVMA has asked Governor Charlie Baker to revise his Executive Order #562, which requires all agencies within the Executive department to review every regulation under their jurisdiction. The League, in a letter, urged the Governor to require that agencies hold public hearings and provide for public comment periods before regulations are changed. The letter noted that the League supports and encourages regular and objective reviews of state regulations to assure that they are clear, relevant and effective in accomplishing their intended results. From LWVUS: LWVUS supports an executive order from President Obama that would require disclosure of political expenditures from all federal contractors. Contact the White House to urge President Obama to further transparency in our political system with this order. There aren’t that many options that can be exercised to fight money in politics. This is one of them!
LWV members can write to the President urging this action by going to: White House Comments to give comments.
