NewTV, 23 Needham St., NewtonThe term “Affordable Housing” is used frequently, and all are aware of increasing price of housing in the City. But most of us have questions. Join to us to hear Eve Tapper and James Freas of Newton’s Planning Department answer questions such as:
- What does the term really mean?
- What is the actual state of housing in the City?
- How do we compare with other communities and where we want to be?
- What can City Government and others do to ensure that there is an adequate supply of affordable housing options?
Andrea Kelley will moderate the session, provide introductions and describe where the League stands on affordable housing. Eve Tapper and James Freas of Newton’s Planning Department will speak on where Newton is now and in relation to other similar/nearby communities and in relation to its goals. The rest of the time is open for comments and questions by those who attend, responses by presenters and discussion amongst the group.
The session will run from 11:30am to 1pm at NewTV on Easy Street in Newton Highlands. Topic meetings are a brown-bag lunch meeting: bring your sandwich and your questions!
