Equal Pay Day was established in 1996 by the National Committee on Pay Equity. It symbolizes the day when women’s earnings finally catch up to the earnings of men from the previous year. Currently, women earn 77 cents to a man’s dollar. Equal Pay Day is about making a commitment to moving towards the day when women will be equal wage earners.
