LWVN 2012 Annual Meeting

June 4, 2012

New officers and board members, Leighton Award winner, recognition of two 50-year League members, action priorities for 2012-2013, and approval to launch a signature initiative to put the question of a charter commission before Newton’s voters. All this, and more, happened at our May 30, 2012 Annual Meeting.

LWVN’s Board of Directors for 2012-2013:

Co-Presidents: Anne Borg and Sue Flicop

Executive Vice President: Ellen Glusman

Vice Presidents: Jo Corro, Alison Leary

Treasurer: Andrea Kozinetz

Clerk: Bonnie Carter

Directors: Leslie Burg, Ann Grantham, Rhanna Kidwell, Lisa Mirabile, Mindy Peckler, Sharyn Roberts, Sue Rosenbaum

LWVN members honored Audrey Cooper and Louise Hauser for their 50 years of membership in the League. Over the years, their efforts and support have been invaluable, and they are a source of inspiration for all those involved in the community.

Ellen Glusman received the Jane Leighton Award for her volunteer service to the League. Ellen used her wisdom and strength all during the year to further the goals of the League with humor and goodwill.

LWVN’s 2012-2013 program and local action priorities were approved; they can be found here.

And finally, LWVN members voted to collect signatures this coming year to put the question of a Newton Charter Commission on the 2013 ballot. More information can be found on our Charter Initiative page.

Photos from Annual Meeting can be found on our Facebook page,  www.facebook.com/lwvnewton.

We are looking forward to a busy, exciting, and productive year working to inform voters and effect positive change.
