The League of Women Voters has invited candidates for statewide and local offices to participate in a series of forums on Sunday, Oct. 17. The forums will take place at Lasell College in deWitt Hall of the Winslow Academic Center, 80 A Maple St., Auburndale. Forums are free and open to the public. To ask questions, please plan to arrive 15 minutes before the forum begins to submit your written questions.
The schedule follows:
1 p.m.: Candidates for the sheriff of Middlesex County: James V. DiPaola, D, and Michael S. Tranchita, Sr., Unenrolled
2 p.m. Candidates for attorney general: Martha Coakley, D, and James P. McKenna, R.
3 p.m.: Candidates for secretary of the Commonwealth: William Francis Galvin, D, William C. Campbell, R, and James D. Henderson, Unenrolled.
4 p.m. Candidates for state representative from the 10th Middlesex District: Peter J. Koutoujian, D, and James E. Dixon, R.
5 p.m. — Candidates for U.S. Congress from the 4th District: Barney Frank, D, Sean Bielat, R, Susan F. Allen, Independent, and Donald M. Jordan, Tax Revolt Independent.
6:45 p.m. — Candidates for state auditor: Suzanne M. Bump (D), Mary Z. Connaughton (R), Nathanael Alexander Fortune, Green-Rainbow.
7:45 p.m.– Candidates for state treasurer: Steven Grossman, D, and Karyn E. Polito, R.
Members of the League of Women Voters will moderate the forums. The candidates will answer questions submitted in writing by the audience. The candidates will also make brief opening and closing statements.
The League of Women Voters of Newton is sponsoring these forums in conjunction with the League of Women Voters of Massachusetts and the neighboring Leagues.
