October 18th deadline to register to vote; absentee ballots now available

Two voting updates:

  1.  This Wednesday, October 18th, at 8 pm is the deadline to register to vote in the November 7th election.  For more information, visit the City of Newton Elections Office.
  2. If you won’t be in Newton on November 7th, you can vote absentee!  Ballots are available now at City Hall through noon on November 6th.  You can request an absentee ballot for yourself or a family member by using the forms available through the Secretary of State’s website.

VOTE411: Online Voters’ Guide Available Tuesday, October 10th

At last! LWVN’s Voters’ Guide will be available on Tuesday, October 10th by visiting www.VOTE411.org.  Add your address on the first page, then click on the GREEN button, and you’ll have candidates’ answers to each of three questions.  ALL candidates for office, whether in contested or uncontested races, were invited to participate. Answers were limited to 500 characters (about 100 words).

LWVN volunteers registers 88 students to vote in Newton

Congratulations to the LWVN Voter Registration Team who registered 40 students at Newton South High School and 48 students at Newton North High School!  Students at both schools helped  LWVN members Sharyn Roberts (Team Leader), Bonnie Carter, Margie Ross Decter, Kathleen Hobson, and Terry Yoffie.  If you would like to help register voters at the upcoming Farmer’s Markets and/or the Harvest Fair, please contact info@lwvnewton.org.
